Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations

Lies of P Director Choi Ji-Won found a fresh perspective after engaging with Elden Ring: Nightreign’s network test, fueling his openness to innovative projects. At the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared his thoughts with Eurogamer about the evolution of the Souls genre. His admiration for FromSoftware's work is well-documented and reflected in Lies of P.
Reflecting on Elden Ring: Nightreign, Choi remarked, "I've tried [Nightreign] and it was very refreshing and new. So that obviously gave me the impression that they're good developers, they always push their boundaries, their imagination and vision, and it shows. In turn, that for some reason motivated me to deliver the Overture experience as good as it could be."
This experience has led Choi to explore new avenues, including multiplayer games. He stated, "In terms of our future endeavours, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration in the future."

Despite his appreciation for FromSoftware's games, Choi clarified that his inspiration comes from a broad spectrum of games. In a conversation with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC, he noted, "I'm a fan of many, many types of games, and that variety of different experiences and inspirations that I pick up with many different games I love, I sort of mold it into my own Lies of P experience. In the end, it's a combination of diverse inspirations that I get from many games that I love, and then I'm trying to transform that into a Lies of P experience that I'm developing for the fans of Lies of P now."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players

Choi disclosed that Overture, the new DLC, is estimated to take 15-20 hours for seasoned players to complete. Packed with numerous bosses and additional content, Overture represents what the developers originally intended to include in the base game. Choi explained, "Overture is not a complete separate piece from the base game, and there's a lot of interconnectivity between the two, so developing the expansion was almost like an effort to complete the Lies of P experience, and that was challenging."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to the final days of Krat, following a legendary Stalker. It integrates new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts from the game's initial launch, which were limited by production constraints. Choi likened this expansion to a Director’s Cut, suggesting it completes the narrative arc of the game.
He highlighted the prioritization of quality at the base game's launch, stating, "When we released the base game, we had to prioritize, as we mentioned, to do the best quality, so we couldn't deliver everything at once because we wanted to make sure what we can deliver has the best quality." The positive feedback from the community further motivated the team to fulfill their vision with this expansion.
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game

In an interview with IGN at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that Overture does not directly connect to the final cutscene of the base game. While the ending provided insights into potential future directions for the Lies of P universe, Overture stands as a separate narrative.
Choi previously hinted at a sequel in a Director’s Letter video from November 2023, but remained reticent about details concerning Lies of P 2. He assured fans, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

Choi encouraged players to revisit the base game for clues about what Overture might entail. He also noted that he's been following fan theories online, some of which have come remarkably close to the mark.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for release in Summer 2025, without a specific date announced yet. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates on the game, be sure to check our dedicated article below!
