Tomb Raider's iconic heroine, Lara Croft, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has confirmed. This highly anticipated addition, following recent chapters featuring Vecna and Chucky, brings one of gaming's most enduring characters to the Entity's realm. The speculation is over; Lara Croft is ready to navigate the perilous challenges of Dead by Daylight.
Dead by Daylight's newest chapter arrives just over a month after the Dungeons & Dragons crossover. Lara Croft, designed by Toby Gard and initially introduced in 1996, will be playable across all platforms starting July 16th. PC players, however, will gain early access via a Steam public test build. While a gameplay trailer remains unreleased, PC gamers will be the first to experience Lara's unique perks and abilities firsthand. Behaviour Interactive describes her as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of daring escapades. Her in-game model will be based on the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot.
The announcement of Lara Croft's arrival coincided with Dead by Daylight's eighth-anniversary livestream, revealing additional exciting content. This includes a new 2v8 mode pitting two Killers against eight Survivors, a collaboration with Supermassive Games featuring Frank Stone, and a future Castlevania chapter.
This year has seen a surge in Lara Croft's presence, with Aspyr releasing a remastered collection of the original Tomb Raider trilogy and a PS5 port of Tomb Raider: Legend. Further fueling the Lara Croft renaissance is an upcoming animated series, "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft," slated for release in October 2024, featuring Hayley Atwell as Lara's voice.
