Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlocking Breakers and SyComs

Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse roster of characters, each with unique playstyles. This guide covers all currently available characters and how to unlock them in the early access version. Note that this information may be subject to change with future updates.

Unlocking New Characters

To unlock new characters, you'll need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). First, locate Prisms (represented by golden diamond icons on the map) to access boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method. The method for unlocking future characters remains unconfirmed.

All Characters and SyComs

Each character starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core abilities, significantly impacting their playstyle.

Vermillion

• Default SyCom: Gunslinger: Favors ranged combat. Critical hits from Rail shots guarantee a critical hit on the following shot.
• Unlockable SyCom: Tank: Rewards perfect parries with increased armor. Offers superior defensive stats and melee capabilities.

Lapis

• Default SyCom: Lightweaver: Boosts Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery.
• Unlockable SyCom: Warrior: Increases core stats with each upgrade acquired. This SyCom makes Lapis exceptionally powerful in the late game.

Goro

• Default SyCom: Astrologer: Accelerates Blade skill charge while firing at targets.
• Unlockable SyCom: Sniper: Significantly increases critical hit rate. Goro is a high-risk, high-reward ranged character. His high damage output is balanced by his fragility.
