League of Legends is set to reintroduce Hextech Chests following a wave of fan feedback. Dive into this article to discover more about the upcoming updates and what's on the horizon for LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes
Hextech Chests Make a Comeback
Riot Games has decided to bring back Hextech Chests in League of Legends after listening to the community's feedback. On February 27, 2025, the developers released an update on their official website, outlining the changes set to roll out, accompanied by a detailed video on their YouTube channel.
Acknowledging that their recent changes didn't resonate well with the player base, Riot Games stated, "Recently, we've made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
Hextech Chests, which were missed by many fans, were highlighted as a key point of dissatisfaction. Riot explained, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Starting from patch 25.05, players will once again be able to earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, while the remaining two can be earned through the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Additional Fan Feedback Adjustments

Riot Games also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, as the team aims to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new Exalted skin in every Act as initially planned.
Responding to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, acknowledging the community's feedback on the lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the excessive number of champions per seasonal theme.
In response to discussions about blue essence and champion shards, Riot Games will be "lowering the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% as of patch 25.05," making it easier for players to access their favorite champions.
Another change reverting to a previous decision involves Clash. Initially, Riot planned to run Clash less frequently, but they've now decided to bring back the monthly Clash schedule. The March Clash event will feature ARURF, followed by a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return

Responding to popular demand, Riot Games will reintroduce the Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop. Your Shop is scheduled to return in patch 25.06, followed by the Blue Essence Emporium in patch 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their ongoing commitment to refining the game based on player feedback, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
It's clear that Riot Games remains dedicated to listening to their community, striving to create an engaging and rewarding experience for all players. League of Legends is available to play for free on PC. For the latest updates on the game, be sure to visit our League of Legends page.
