Hades 2's First Major Update: Ascent to Olympus
Melinoe and Enemies Enhanced
Supergiant Games has unleashed the highly anticipated Olympic Update for Hades 2. The developers plan to closely monitor player feedback to refine the game's latest additions. This substantial update introduces a new area, weapon, characters, animal familiars, and more.
Key features of the "practically mountain-sized" Olympic Update include:
⚫︎ New Region: Mount Olympus: Conquer the gods' domain and strive to save it. ⚫︎ New Weapon: Xinth, the Black Coat: Master the power of this otherworldly Nocturnal Arm. ⚫︎ New Characters: Forge alliances with two new allies in their homeland. ⚫︎ New Familiars: Discover and bond with two new animal companions. ⚫︎ Crossroads Renewal: Unlock numerous cosmetic items to customize the Crossroads. ⚫︎ Expanded Story: Uncover hours of new dialogue as the narrative deepens in the new region. ⚫︎ World Map: Experience a redesigned world map for navigating between regions. ⚫︎ Mac Support: Native support added for Macs with Apple M1 chips or later.
Currently in early access on PC (with a full release and console launch expected next year), Hades 2 has garnered praise for its replayability and substantial content. The Olympic Update significantly expands this, adding hours of gameplay, new dialogue, and voice lines. The addition of Olympus, the mythical home of the Greek gods and Zeus' throne, promises to intensify the narrative.
Significant improvements have been made to several Nocturnal Arms and Abilities, including the Witch's Staff, Sister Blades, Umbral Flames, and Moonstone Axe Specials. These changes allow for greater adaptability to different playstyles. Melinoe's Dash has also been enhanced for speed and responsiveness, improving evasion capabilities. These enhancements are matched by significant enemy upgrades.
New enemies, including Wardens and a Guardian, populate the Mount Olympus region. Existing Surface enemies have also received adjustments:
⚫︎ Chronos: Reduced downtime between phases; minor adjustments made. ⚫︎ Eris: Various adjustments; no longer inexplicably stands in flames. ⚫︎ Infernal Beast: Reappears sooner after the first phase; minor adjustments made. ⚫︎ Polyphemus: No longer summons Elite foes; other minor adjustments made. ⚫︎ Charybdis: Reduced number of phases; more intense flailing with reduced downtime. ⚫︎ Headmistress Hecate: Loses invulnerability sooner after her Sisters of the Dead are defeated. ⚫︎ Ranged Enemies: Fewer simultaneous attacks from ranged enemies. ⚫︎ Various other minor enemy and combat adjustments.
