While exploring the Ruins of Wyveria in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you'll encounter the formidable Ebony Odogaron. This monster, known as the guardian of this ancient site, is renowned for its unparalleled speed, making it one of the fastest creatures in the game.
Here's what you need to know about facing this swift adversary:
Ebony Odogaron's speed can be overwhelming. To counter this, utilize stunning tactics. Look for a nearby Flashfly to trigger and momentarily stun the monster. Additionally, crafting Flash Pods to shoot at the beast can provide crucial moments of immobilization, allowing you to regain control of the fight.
Facing Ebony Odogaron solo can be daunting, as you'll spend much of your time evading its swift attacks. To ease the burden, send out SOS signals to call for backup. Whether other players join or NPCs come to your aid, having allies can act as a buffer, drawing the monster's attention away from you. Use this time to dodge and strike when it's distracted.
During your battle, you'll enter an area with Entangled Rocks hanging above. Use your slinger to bring them down, stunning Ebony Odogaron for a few valuable seconds. This can only be done once per fight, but you can also deploy Pitfall and Shock Traps to immobilize the creature twice more.
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which, while not directly damaging, will hinder your ability to build up elemental or status effects. Counter this by using a Nulberry or equipping decorations with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its effects.
To make the fight more manageable, consider using Paralysis on Ebony Odogaron. This status effect will temporarily immobilize the monster, giving you ample time to attack. If you manage to knock it down near roots, it might become further entangled, prolonging your window for damage.
The head of Ebony Odogaron is its most vulnerable spot, with a 3-star weakness. Targeting it will maximize your damage output, though it also puts you at risk. Alternatively, aim for its forelegs and tail to potentially break these parts, although the damage will be less significant.

To capture Ebony Odogaron, deploy a Pitfall or Shock Trap once its health is reduced to 20 percent or less. Ensure the monster is sufficiently weakened; otherwise, the tranquilizer won't take effect, and it will break free, forcing you to continue the fight.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
