Dune: Awakening recently concluded its open beta weekend, revealing a major combat exploit that leaves opponents permanently stunned in PvP engagements. Here's what we know about this critical gameplay issue and developer Funcom's response.
The recent open beta gave players access to approximately 20-25 hours of gameplay and various features. During Funcom's Global LAN Party livestream on May 10th, participants uncovered a severe combat exploit capable of permanently immobilizing opponents in player-versus-player encounters.
The stunlock glitch activates when players execute rapid knife attacks against exhausted opponents with depleted stamina. Affected players become completely incapacitated - unable to defend themselves, activate abilities, or escape the endless stagger loop.
High-profile streamers Tyler1 and Shroud prominently showcased this exploit during their gameplay broadcasts, rapidly escalating community awareness of the issue.
Development team members witnessing the exploit during the livestream promptly acknowledged the critical bug. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured players the issue would be resolved before official launch.
Gagné stated: "We've got this handled. Contrary to appearances, we've been aware of this issue. The fix is already in progress." With the beta period concluded, developers now possess valuable player feedback alongside widespread acclaim to refine the game for release.
