In the thrilling universe of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, it's not just brute strength that triumphs. Speed and strategic positioning can be equally potent, especially when wielding the nimble Dual Blades. These weapons are perfect for hunters who relish in swift, relentless assaults, capable of overwhelming even the mightiest of beasts. Here’s how to master the Dual Blades in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.

Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Dual Blades stand out for their rapid and dangerous nature, offering versatility through quick, successive strikes. Mastering both their modes is key to dominating any battlefield scenario.

Demon Mode/Demon Gauge and Archdemon Mode

The Dual Blades feature a unique gauge mechanic that allows players to enter Demon Mode, enhancing attack, movement speed, and evasion while granting knockback immunity. However, this mode consumes stamina continuously and will end when stamina depletes or is manually cancelled.

Attacks in Demon Mode fill the Demon Gauge, and once it's full, players transition into Archdemon Mode. Here, the Demon Gauge decreases over time and is consumed by certain attacks, enabling hunters to execute boosted attacks. Both modes can be used interchangeably, and when mounted on a monster, the Demon Gauge stops decreasing, providing strategic advantages.

Demon Dodge

A successful Perfect Evade triggers Demon Dodge, an empowered state that boosts regular and elemental damage and allows attacks while dodging. This grants a damage buff for 12 seconds, and subsequent dodges inflict damage as you spin forward.

Combos

The Dual Blades' effectiveness hinges on mastering combos in Demon and Archdemon Modes, enabling you to chain attacks for maximum damage.

Basic Combo

Start with a simple sequence by pressing Triangle/Y three times to perform Double Slash, Double Slash Return Stroke, and Circle Slash. This combo is reliable in various hunting scenarios. Alternatively, use Circle/B for the Demon Flurry Rush – Spinning Slash – Double Roundslash combo to quickly fill the Demon Gauge.

Demon Mode Basic Combo

In Demon Mode, your basic combo becomes more potent and swift. Begin with Demon Fangs, followed by Twofold Demon Slash, Sixfold Demon Slash, and finish with Triangle/Y + Circle/B for Demon Flurry I.

Archdemon Mode Blade Dance Combo

Once the Demon Gauge is full, switch to Archdemon Mode for a devastating combo. Start with Blade Dance (Triangle/Y + Circle/B) in Demon Mode, then press R2/RT four times for Demon Flurry I into Blade Dance II, and conclude with Demon Flurry II and Blade Dance III. This fluid transition between modes delivers swift, high damage.

Dual Blade Tips

Always Follow Up

Initiate with the Demon Flurry Rush combo (Circle/B + Circle/B + Circle/B), then seamlessly transition into a full Demon or Archdemon Mode combo (three sets of Triangle/Y + Circle/B). This approach rapidly fills your Demon Gauge and converts it into swift damage, an advantage over slower weapons like the Great Sword.

Keep Your Stamina Up

Demon Mode relies on stamina, so maintaining reserves is crucial. While exiting the mode to recover is an option, using Focus Strike on wounded areas can halt stamina drain and still contribute to the Demon Gauge. This strategy prepares you for more aggressive attacks post-landing.

Dodging in Between Attacks

Without a reliable defense, dodging becomes essential. The Dual Blades offer superior mobility, allowing you to dodge out of most attacks and combos. Avoid overcommitting and use the quick animations to wait for the perfect moment to strike.

Ensure Sharpness

The relentless nature of Dual Blades means sharpness can degrade rapidly. Utilizing the Speed Sharpening skill in your build can save time, enabling you to quickly return to the fray.

Mastering the Dual Blades in *Monster Hunter Wilds* involves understanding their modes, combos, and strategic use. For more guidance, explore The Escapist's resources on the game.
