Get ready for an exciting adventure with Donkey Kong Bananza, set to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17. This new 3D platformer promises to immerse players in expansive, thrilling environments where our favorite simian hero will run, climb, and roll his way through various challenges. You can preorder it now, with options available at retailers like Best Buy. Dive deeper into what makes this game a must-have.
**Available July 17**
Donkey Kong Bananza comes without any special editions, keeping it simple for fans. Your only decision is whether to go for the physical or digital version.
Nintendo has set a new price point of $79.99 for some Switch 2 titles, such as Mario Kart World and the enhanced version of Super Mario Party Jamboree. However, Donkey Kong Bananza maintains a more reasonable $69.99 price tag. This is a $10 increase over many original Switch games, yet it's a relief it's not hitting the $79.99 mark.
Donkey Kong Bananza marks the first new 3D Donkey Kong game since the iconic Donkey Kong 64 on the N64 in 1999. A standout feature is Donkey Kong's new digging ability, allowing him to smash and pound his way through the ground and cliffs, uncovering hidden secrets and treasures. While much of the gameplay takes place underground, players will explore diverse settings like forests, canyons, lagoons, and frozen tundras. The game stays true to its roots with classic side-scrolling and mine cart sections, promising a fun-filled experience. For a deeper dive, check out our hands-on preview of Donkey Kong Bananza.
