Concord: A Hero Shooter with a Post-Launch Roadmap
Launching August 23rd, Sony and Firewalk Studios' Concord promises a robust, ongoing experience beyond its initial release. This article details the game's post-launch content roadmap and strategic gameplay tips.
No Battle Pass Required
Concord, available on PS5 and PC, eschews the traditional battle pass model. Instead, Firewalk Studios focuses on rewarding gameplay through account and character leveling, and completing in-game objectives. Rewards are substantial from the start, ensuring a satisfying experience without relying on a paid progression system.
Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)
Concord's first season, "The Tempest," introduces a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional Freegunner Variants, and new cosmetic rewards. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will enrich the narrative, expanding on the Northstar crew's story. A new in-game store will offer purely cosmetic items, supplementing the rewards earned through gameplay.
Season 2 and Beyond
Season 2 is planned for January 2025, with Firewalk Studios committed to regular seasonal updates throughout Concord's first year. This commitment ensures a steady stream of fresh content to keep the game engaging.
Gameplay Strategies and Crew Builder
Concord's "Crew Builder" system allows for unique team customization. While players can select five Freegunners, up to three variants of the same Freegunner are permitted. This flexibility lets players tailor their teams to different playstyles and match challenges.
Unlike traditional hero shooter roles, Concord's Freegunners prioritize high damage output. The six roles – Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden – are defined by their strategic impact, such as area control, long-range advantage, or flanking. Combining Freegunners from diverse roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, granting advantages like increased mobility or reduced cooldowns.
