Firaxis Games has hinted at the potential return of Gandhi to Civilization VII, possibly as downloadable content (DLC). This follows an IGN interview where lead designer Ed Beach addressed the absence of several familiar civilizations and leaders from the base game.

In a February 13, 2025 IGN interview, Beach confirmed that the developers haven't forgotten past favorites. He specifically mentioned the player concerns regarding the omission of Great Britain and India, explaining that the sheer number of popular choices necessitated leaving some out to include fresh, exciting additions. While not confirming a specific release date, Beach stated that there is "hope for Gandhi, yet."
