Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has encountered yet another delay, with the game now slated for release in October 2025. This news comes as a modest setback following a series of schedule adjustments, announced subtly within a recent game update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room. This latest delay pushes the release a few months beyond the earlier target of the first half of 2025, but it arrives with the assurance that the core development of the game is complete.
“The status of the game right now is that the game is done,” stated Marco Behrmann, Executive Producer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. “We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases.”
While the delay adds to the frustration of fans who have been waiting patiently for years, the accompanying video does offer some silver linings. The Chinese Room has promised additional content, enhanced narrative depth, and improved character development since the last major update. Players can also look forward to an "evolved role" for the character Fabien in the storyline. However, the frequency of updates will decrease, as announced on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page.
The journey of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been fraught with challenges since its announcement in 2019 by Hardsuit Labs, initially targeting a Q1 2020 release. Subsequent delays pushed the timeline to late 2020, then to 2021, accompanied by layoffs at Hardsuit in March 2021. The development took a significant turn in 2023 when The Chinese Room took over from Hardsuit Labs, aiming for a 2024 launch. After one more delay, the game is now set to launch in October 2025.
Given the history of delays, it remains uncertain whether Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will successfully captivate its audience this fall. Nonetheless, The Chinese Room remains optimistic. Looking ahead, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful release, a different team will be responsible for developing the potential sequel, Bloodlines 3.
