Sega has exciting news for Sonic fans: Sonic Rumble, the first multiplayer party game in the Sonic series, is set to launch globally on May 8, 2025. This announcement came via a tweet from Sega on April 9, accompanied by a new trailer that offers a glimpse into the thrilling gameplay that awaits players.
In Sonic Rumble, up to 32 players can compete in a variety of levels and gameplay modes, all set within a toy world crafted by the notorious Dr. Eggman. Participants will navigate treacherous obstacle courses and battle in dangerous arenas, all while controlling iconic characters from the Sonic universe.
As a free-to-play title, concerns about pay-to-win mechanics surfaced. However, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed these concerns during the Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September 2024. He assured fans that the game will feature a straightforward purchasing system, allowing players to buy desired items quickly for a small, fixed amount, rather than relying on a gacha system with random item drops.

Shortly after announcing the release date, Sega shared that Sonic Rumble has surpassed 900,000 pre-registrations. This milestone achievement means players can look forward to receiving a variety of in-game rewards to enhance their experience from the get-go:
While the final pre-registration milestone remains undisclosed, speculation suggests it might be set at 1 million or higher, in line with similar campaigns. With several weeks left until the game's launch, there's still time for the community to push towards this goal.
Sonic Rumble will be available on iOS, Android, and PC when it releases on May 8, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates and keep an eye on our articles for the latest information about the game!
