Rome has just unveiled the country's largest game museum, known as GAMM, the Game Museum, which is now open for the public to explore. Nestled in the heart of Piazza della Repubblica, this innovative venture is the brainchild of Marco Accordi Rickards, a multifaceted individual who is a writer, journalist, professor, and the CEO of Vigamus. Marco's passion for preserving and celebrating video game culture shines through in GAMM, which he describes as a journey that seamlessly blends history, technology, and gameplay exploration. This new museum draws inspiration from the legacy of Vigamus, another gaming museum in Rome that has welcomed over two million visitors since its inception in 2012.

Spread across 700 square meters on two levels, GAMM, the Game Museum, is divided into three captivating thematic areas. Let's dive into what awaits you at this incredible venue:

What You’ll Discover at GAMM, the Game Museum

The first section you'll encounter is the GAMMDOME, a digital playground that combines interactive stations with authentic artifacts from gaming history, including consoles and other donated objects. This area operates on the 4 E Concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment, offering a comprehensive dive into the world of video games.

Next, the Path of Arcadia, or PARC, transports visitors back to the golden era of coin-operated games. This nostalgic journey covers classics from the late '70s through the '80s, extending into the early '90s, allowing gamers to relive the magic of arcade culture.

Finally, the Historical Playground, known as HIP, focuses on the intricate elements of gameplay. Here, visitors can dissect the structure of games, explore interaction mechanics, and understand design rules, offering a unique 'backstage pass' to the evolution of gaming.

GAMM, the Game Museum, welcomes visitors from Monday to Thursday between 9:30 AM and 7:30 PM, and extends its hours until 11:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is priced at 15 euros, and more information can be found on the museum's official website.
