Ubisoft Mainz a dévoilé une nouvelle bande-annonce pour Anno 1800: Pax Romana , offrant de nouveaux détails sur le jeu à venir. Bien que précédemment annoncé comme présentant le Lazio et Albion, la bande-annonce suggère que le Lazio sert de prologue avant que le jeu principal ne se déroule à Albion.

Le directeur créatif Manuel Rainer explique que le Lazio commence idyllique, mais un événement catastrophique oblige les joueurs à se refuger et à établir une nouvelle colonie dans les îles britanniques difficiles (Albion). Albion présente un contraste frappant avec le Lazio, caractérisé par des conditions météorologiques dures, des tribus rebelles et sa distance géographique de Rome, faisant de la gouvernance un défi important.

Les joueurs assument le rôle d'un gouverneur romain, chargé de surmonter ces obstacles par la diplomatie ainsi que la force. Le respect des coutumes et des traditions locales est la clé du succès. Une fonctionnalité unique est les navires personnalisables, permettant aux joueurs de choisir entre hiérarchiser la vitesse avec les rameurs ou le renforcement de la puissance de feu avec des tourelles de tir à l'arc.
