The highly anticipated second Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft (WoW) has hit a snag, facing an unexpected delay due to unforeseen issues. Originally set to return on January 14, 2025, with exciting pirate-themed battle royale action and new rewards, fans of the game will have to wait a bit longer to dive back into the fray. Although WoW aims to have Plunderstorm up and running before the end of January 14, no specific relaunch time has been announced yet.
While the servers were initially scheduled for a six-hour maintenance, this was extended to eight hours, with a planned restart at 3 PM PST. However, as per a forum post by WoW community manager Kaivax, "unexpected issues" have further delayed the event. While the core game servers are back online, players can engage in other WoW activities such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or exploring other facets of The War Within.
When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14, after "unexpected issues" are resolved
The second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces new elements like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface, which might be contributing to the delay. WoW's developers are working to resolve these issues promptly, so fans can return to the high-seas adventure soon.
Despite the delay, WoW's new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are still available. Players can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any Twitch streamer in the World of Warcraft category before February 4 at 10 AM PST. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to progress towards this reward, allowing fans to start collecting items while waiting for the event to go live.
