Saber Interactive confirms a DRM-free launch for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, eliminating concerns about performance-impacting digital rights management software. This decision follows player feedback regarding the negative effects DRM can have on gameplay.
Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2: A DRM-Free Experience
No Microtransactions, Just Cosmetics

In a recent FAQ, Saber Interactive clarified that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, launching September 9th, will be free of DRM such as Denuvo. While DRM is often used to combat piracy, its potential for performance issues has been a point of contention among gamers. Previous examples, like Capcom's use of Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, highlight the potential drawbacks.
While foregoing DRM, the PC version will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat software at launch. The use of Easy Anti-Cheat has faced scrutiny in the past, notably during an Apex Legends tournament hacking incident.
The developers have also confirmed no plans for official mod support at launch, which may disappoint some players. However, the game will feature a PvP arena, horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode. Importantly, Saber Interactive assures players that all gameplay content remains free, with microtransactions strictly limited to cosmetic items and no paid DLC planned.
