Virtual Boy Classics Arrive on Nintendo Switch at Direct

Nintendo has stunned the gaming world by announcing the return of the Virtual Boy.

Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics launches on February 17, 2026, for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers on both Switch 1 and 2, with 14 classic titles scheduled to release gradually.

A dedicated accessory is required to play, reviving the original Virtual Boy peripheral, and a cardboard model will also be offered.

Here is the official statement from Nintendo:

A curated selection of games from Nintendo's stereoscopic 3D system, the Virtual Boy, is coming to Nintendo Classics, available exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. To experience these titles, you will need Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2 controllers and the specially designed accessory, inspired by the original Virtual Boy hardware—complete with stereoscopic 3D—when using your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch system. Enjoy a lineup that includes Mario’s Tennis, Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, and others as they become available. Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics arrives on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on February 17, 2026. The required accessory for playing Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics, along with a cardboard version, will be available for pre-order on the My Nintendo Store at a later date.
