Understand the Metaphorical Journey in "ReFantazio"

Metaphor: ReFantazio features eight playable characters, including the protagonist. While Gallica is present from the start, her combat role is limited. The remaining seven party members join at specific points in the story, often tied to key events. Note: Reading further may reveal minor story details.

Spoiler Warning: The following details who joins your party and when.

Each party member awakens to a unique Archetype, usable by any party member once unlocked. Some early members are initially AI-controlled before their Archetype activation.

Party Member Joining Dates:

  • Strohl (Warrior): Joins on June 5th during the Border Fort events, but his Archetype activates the following day, June 6th, in the Nord Mines. Until then, he's AI-controlled.

  • Grius: Joins after the Border Fort events (before June 6th), but becomes a fully playable character on June 6th after Strohl's Archetype awakening. Grius doesn't undergo a traditional Archetype awakening.

  • Hulkenberg (Knight): Begins interacting with the party on June 10th, fully joining and awakening her Archetype during the next day's boss fight (June 11th).

  • Heismay (Thief): Featured in Martira's free time segment (mostly linear). He awakens and joins the party on July 4th within the town's main dungeon.

  • Junah (Masked Dancer): Appears throughout the game, joining the party upon her Archetype awakening on August 13th.

  • Eupha (Summoner): Her joining date is flexible. She joins during the final boss fight, after completing the Dragon Temple Dungeon anytime between August 19th and September 4th, during Viraga Island's free time. Her Bond quest begins after this period ends.

  • Basilio (Berserker): Awakens and joins on September 11th during the Saint's Day events. He becomes usable in combat the following day, if desired.
