AHOY Comics made a splash in 2024 by bringing back the cult favorite The Toxic Crusader in comic book form. This year, they’re marking “Toxic Mess Summer” with Toxie joining forces with the heroes of the AHOY Universe—including Jesus Christ.
Toxic Mess Summer kicks off in May with The Toxic Avenger Pinup Special, showcasing diverse artists’ unique takes on Toxie and his crew. Following that, AHOY will launch the miniseries Toxie Team-Up, pairing Toxie with Project: Cryptid’s Jersey Devil, My Bad’s Acid Chimp, The Wrong Earth’s Dragonflyman and Stinger, Justice Warriors’ Swamp Cop and Schitt, and, yes, Second Coming’s Jesus Christ.

Since its debut, Second Coming has earned both critical praise and heated debate—and we expect that dynamic to continue as Jesus and Toxie team up.
Toxie Team-Up #1 is written and illustrated by Second Coming’s Mark Russell and Richard Pace.
“Toxic Avenger and Jesus Christ is the crossover everyone’s been asking for, and I’m not one to deny the fans,” Russell said in AHOY’s press release. “Just like in Second Coming, Christ proves there’s more to heroism than brute force—and that Tromaville, weird as it is, is still a place someone raised on the streets of the Roman Empire would feel at home.”
“Having already spawned five films, a cartoon, action figures, a musical, and a Marvel comic series, the Toxic Avenger is a pop culture icon,” said AHOY Comics Editor-in-Chief Tom Peyer. “The only real question is: why doesn’t he have his own church?”

Matt Bors and Fred Harper’s The Toxic Avenger miniseries will also be collected in a trade paperback on April 1. You can preorder The Toxic Avenger on Amazon.
Toxie is also returning to the big screen in 2025. In IGN’s review of The Toxic Avenger, Amelia Emberwing writes, "Troma and Legendary’s partnership on The Toxic Avenger’s 2023 'not remake' delivers a mixed bag. Director Macon Blair and the creative team may have more budget than Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman had in 1984, but it struggles to capture the so-bad-it’s-good charm of Troma’s best films. Still, what it lacks in campy absurdity, it makes up for with heart and mostly practical slaughter sequences. Kevin Bacon and Peter Dinklage having a blast in their roles certainly doesn’t hurt either."
