The highly anticipated PS5 exclusive Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is making its way to PC platforms this January. Discover all the details about the upcoming PC port, including release date and new features.
The acclaimed superhero sequel Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will officially arrive on PC platforms January 30, 2025, as announced during New York Comic Con's Marvel Games showcase. Following successful PC adaptations of both Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales, this transition comes as welcome news to PC gamers eager to experience Insomniac's latest web-slinging adventure.
Nixxes Software, renowned for their PlayStation-to-PC ports including Horizon titles and Ghost of Tsushima, is handling the PC optimization in collaboration with Insomniac Games. The PC version promises enhanced features while maintaining the core experience that captivated PS5 players.
"Our collaboration bringing Marvel's Spider-Man titles to PC has been incredibly rewarding," stated Nixxes Community Manager Julian Huijbregts. Alongside Core Technology Director Mike Fitzgerald from Insomniac, they confirmed the port will include ray-tracing capabilities, ultrawide monitor support, and extensive graphical customization options tailored for PC hardware.
While keyboard/mouse controls and ultrawide support are included, PC players should note that DualSense controller features like adaptive triggers won't be replicated.
The complete package includes all post-launch content from the PS5 version: twelve additional suits featuring Symbiote styles, New Game+ mode, Ultimate Levels, and enhanced photo mode capabilities. Digital Deluxe Edition owners will receive exclusive extras, though Insomniac confirms no new narrative content will be added.
A controversial PlayStation Network account requirement may prevent players in approximately 170 countries from accessing Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC. This policy, seen in recent PlayStation PC ports like God of War Ragnarök and Ghost of Tsushima, continues despite backlash following Helldivers 2's similar requirement.
Many players question the necessity of PSN accounts for single-player experiences, particularly in regions where PlayStation Network isn't officially supported.
The PC release marks completion of Insomniac's Spider-Man trilogy on computer platforms, demonstrating Sony's commitment to expanding beyond console exclusivity. While distribution policies remain debatable, bringing these premium experiences to PC represents significant progress.
Game8 awarded Marvel's Spider-Man 2 an 88/100 score, praising it as a worthy successor to Insomniac's acclaimed Spider-Man adaptations. For our complete review of the PS5 version, explore our detailed coverage.
