Sony is phasing out PlayStation 4 games from its PlayStation Plus Essentials and Games Catalog starting January 2026, prioritizing PlayStation 5 titles.
This shift, announced alongside February 2025's PlayStation Plus monthly games, reflects Sony's focus on its newer console. The PlayStation Blog post stated that PS4 games will only be offered occasionally in the future for PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and the Game Catalog. Existing downloads remain unaffected, and Games Catalog titles will stay accessible until their scheduled removal.
Sony assures subscribers that PlayStation Plus will continue to evolve, offering benefits like exclusive discounts, online multiplayer, and cloud saves. The company anticipates adding new PS5 titles monthly.
