Playable Hollow Knight: Silksong Preview
Featured at Australia's Game Worlds Exhibit

Hollow Knight: Silksong stands as one of the most eagerly awaited games in recent memory, with fans keen to experience it firsthand. The prolonged wait may soon conclude, as a playable version will be accessible at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This new preview could differ significantly from the 2019 E3 demo, which many viewed more as a "proof of concept" than a full representation.
ACMI is organizing a video game exhibition titled Game Worlds, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. The showcase will include several prominent titles like World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Australia’s own Hollow Knight: Silksong. These games will feature exclusive custom builds, original design materials, concept art, and iconic items.
In conversation with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about Silksong’s inclusion. They stated, "Since its initial announcement in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been one of the most anticipated indie games worldwide. We're delighted to highlight the design of this South Australian-made game as a centerpiece of Game Worlds this September."

Information about Silksong has been limited since its 2019 announcement, leading fans to search for rumors and speculation about its release. ACMI aims to address this information gap by providing deeper insights through the Game Worlds exhibition.
The ACMI co-curators shared that the exhibit will explore the sequel’s world in greater depth. They elaborated, "From the hundreds of sprites animating Hornet’s movements and attacks to the logic behind challenging boss encounters—plus the opportunity to play the game in-gallery—our Silksong displays offer a detailed look into the game’s artistic vision and design."

While the Australian event might hint at Silksong’s launch window, no formal release date has been confirmed. Last month, Silksong briefly appeared during the Switch 2 Direct, reinforcing a 2025 release window. Since the exhibit concludes in 2026, hopeful players are speculating a release by this September or during the exhibition's run.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. For the latest updates, refer to our article below.
