Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, confirms Hollow Knight: Silksong is still under active development and will eventually launch. Recent speculation, fueled by a cake-related profile picture change by a co-creator, proved unfounded. However, Griffin's confirmation on X (formerly Twitter) provides much-needed reassurance to eager fans.
Official Confirmation from Team Cherry
Following the confusion surrounding a co-creator's cake-themed profile picture, which sparked rumors of an ARG or Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, Griffin clarified that the cake was a "nothingburger." He then directly addressed fan concerns, stating definitively, "Yes, the game is real, progressing, and will release." This marks the team's first substantial update in eighteen months.

A Long-Awaited Sequel
Initially announced in February 2019 with a projected release in the first half of 2023, Silksong faced a delay in May 2023. Team Cherry cited the game's expanded scope and their desire for further refinement as reasons for the postponement. The game promises a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging "Silk Soul" mode. While the delay has caused some frustration among fans, Griffin's recent statement offers a glimmer of hope after nearly six years of anticipation.
The news has elicited mixed reactions. Some fans express gratitude and offer words of encouragement, urging the developers to prioritize their well-being and ignore external pressure. Others, however, remain impatient, feeling the update was insufficient given the lengthy wait.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to the kingdom's peak. While a concrete release date remains unannounced, fans eagerly await further news.
