Pokémon Go’s Kanto Celebration brings Mega evolutions and Dynamax Legendary birds

• The Kanto Celebration takes place from September 2nd through 7th
• Timed Research features Pokémon such as Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, and Tauros
• Paid Special Research grants access to Dynamax Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres

While the Tales of Transformation season might be drawing you toward Kaldea, Pokémon Go remains dedicated to its roots. The upcoming Kanto Celebration shines a light on the region where it all started, featuring Mega Evolutions, regional encounters, and even Dynamax forms of the legendary birds. This event will run from September 2nd to 7th.

Classic Kanto favorites like Chansey, Snorlax, and Abra will spawn in the wild, with Shiny variants available for those who are lucky. Event bonuses include guaranteed Candy XL upon evolution, tripled Mega Evolution duration, and double XP when spinning PokéStops. Evolving your starters will also grant them powerful Community Day moves, resulting in Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise.

Timed Research focuses on the region’s most elusive Pokémon. Each day spotlights a different Kanto species typically restricted to specific global regions: Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, and Tauros. Act fast, as each set of tasks expires after 24 hours. Field Research also contributes by offering Mega Energy, encounters, and XP rewards.

Collection Challenges return, challenging you to catch and evolve Pokémon to earn additional Mega Energy. For those seeking extra rewards, a $4.99 Special Research ticket unlocks exclusive content, including encounters with Dynamax Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. All of this coincides with the ongoing XP celebration event, which continues through October 14th.
