Get ready for another challenging 7-Star Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, this time featuring the fiery Water/Fighting-type starter, Quaquaval! This isn't your average Pokémon battle; prepare for a tough fight. Here's your guide to conquering this formidable foe.
To succeed, you need to understand Quaquaval's type matchups. As a Water/Fighting-type with a Water Tera type, it's weak to Electric, Grass, Fairy, Flying, and Psychic-type moves. Electric and Grass-type attacks will be particularly effective. Conversely, Quaquaval resists Water, Fire, Ice, Dark, Rock, Bug, and Steel-type moves.
Quaquaval's moveset in this 7-Star Tera Raid includes Aqua Step (Water), Brave Bird (Flying), Close Combat (Fighting), Feather Dance (Flying), Ice Spinner (Ice), and Mega Kick (Fighting). Note the inclusion of Flying-type moves, which can disrupt strategies relying solely on Grass-types. The biggest threat is Ice Spinner, which boasts 100% accuracy and removes terrain effects, hindering Pokémon that rely on terrain boosts. Furthermore, Feather Dance lowers Attack, and Quaquaval's Moxie ability boosts its Attack after a knockout. This makes solo attempts significantly more challenging.
Eelektross, Miraidon, and Serperior emerge as top contenders. Their strengths lie in dealing significant damage while offering strategic advantages. However, effective utilization requires careful planning and build optimization.
Eelektross's resistance to Flying-type moves is a key advantage. Its recommended build includes:
Prioritize Discharge for paralysis, creating openings for your team. Sunny Day weakens Water-type attacks. Gastro Acid counters Moxie.
Miraidon excels at neutralizing Moxie. Its ideal build is:
Utilize Electric Terrain and Electric Drive for consistent damage. Calm Mind and Metal Sound provide additional support.
Serperior offers strong offensive capabilities. Here's a recommended build:
Reflect negates Ice Spinner's impact, allowing Leaf Storm to shine. Giga Drain provides sustain, and Gastro Acid disables Moxie.
Access to 7-Star Raids requires completion of the Academy Ace Tournament post-game. The Quaquaval Tera Raid runs from March 14th, 7 PM EST to March 20th, 6:59 PM EST.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is available now on Nintendo Switch.
