Pokémon GO Welcomes Morpeko, Teases Dynamax & Gigantamax

Pokémon GO is about to get a significant upgrade, hinting at the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics! Developer Niantic has teased these major gameplay changes, alongside the addition of Morpeko, a Pokémon famous for its form-shifting abilities.

The upcoming season promises "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon," strongly suggesting the introduction of Dynamax and Gigantamax. These mechanics, initially featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield, allow Pokémon to dramatically increase in size and power. Niantic's announcement specifically mentions Morpeko's form-changing capabilities during battles using Charged Attacks, further fueling speculation.

While details remain scarce, the arrival of Morpeko might foreshadow the addition of other Galar region Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash. The new season, starting after the Shared Skies season concludes on September 3rd, is heavily rumored to center on Galar Pokémon, making the inclusion of Dynamax and Gigantamax a very real possibility. It remains unclear, however, whether the Power Spot system from *Sword and Shield* will be replicated in Pokémon GO. These are currently just speculations, and official confirmation is eagerly awaited.

Beyond the exciting hints of major gameplay changes, Pokémon GO also offers several ongoing events. Trainers can still catch the limited-time Snorkeling Pikachu (with a Shiny variant!) until August 20th at 8 pm local time. This Pikachu can be found in one-star raids or via field research. New trainers can also participate in the Welcome Party Special Research, earning rewards by collaborating with fellow players (though access is locked for those below level 15).
