Among the most eagerly awaited game releases I covered last year, one that stood out was the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws made waves as a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder at a time when the genre was still burgeoning. Now, fans can look forward to its sequel, set to launch in the third quarter of this year!

This sequel, playfully dubbed a "seaquel," returns players to the vibrant world of New Elysia for another thrilling adventure across the high seas. Begin your journey by selecting a character, a class ability, and a starting deck, and set sail!

Pirates Outlaws 2 introduces a variety of characters, each with seven class options, allowing you to tailor your deck to your playstyle. You can also recruit an animal companion, adding another layer of strategic depth to your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, you'll have an arsenal of options to conquer the seas!

Run out the gunsPirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, offering greater freedom to explore the map and a broader range of card and character combinations. For PC gamers, an upcoming Steam demo will be your first opportunity to get your hands on this eagerly anticipated title!

One aspect that caught my attention was the animations in the reveal trailer, which seemed somewhat static. While fully animating detailed illustrations can be challenging, I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it arrives on mobile later this year.
