Overwatch 2 makes a triumphant return to China on February 19th, bringing with it a wave of events and rewards. Chinese players will finally rejoin the action on Future Earth, experiencing a multi-week celebration marking the game's relaunch. This follows a successful technical test (January 8th-15th) that allowed players to catch up on missed content, including Overwatch: Classic and six new heroes.
The celebratory return includes access to many popular in-game events and rewards missed over the past two years. All Chinese players will earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the relaunch, with Seasons 3-9 rewards obtainable through in-game events post-relaunch.
Chinese Mythology: A Season 15 Theme?
Game director Aaron Keller revealed that Season 15 will include skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. Whether these are new or existing skins, exclusive to China, or part of a broader Season 15 theme remains to be seen. This follows the Norse mythology theme of Season 14, hinting at a potential trend of culturally-inspired seasons.
The mystery will soon be solved. Season 15 begins February 18th, just before the China relaunch. Expect more details in early February.
Before then, players globally can participate in "Min 1, Max 3," a 6v6 test (January 21st-February 4th) featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also planned before Season 15. While Chinese players may miss these, their own unique celebrations are just around the corner.
