Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement comes from a recent press release, which also highlighted significant changes in Sony's leadership structure.
Sony's CFO, Hiroki Totoki, has been promoted to president and CEO of the entire Sony corporation, taking over from Kenichiro Yoshida, who has been at the helm since April 2018, succeeding Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, the Senior Vice President of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will step into the role of CFO.
Just last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was announced that leadership of SIE would be divided between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst was appointed to head PlayStation Studios, while Nishino took charge of hardware and technology. With Nishino's new appointment, he now oversees the entire SIE operation and leads the platform business group, whereas Hulst will continue in his role leading PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously held the position of Senior Vice President of the platform experience group.
Expressing his gratitude and vision for the future, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
