Conquering Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Comprehensive Guide

The game frequently warns against engaging Lu Bu, stating phrases like, "Among men, Lu Bu. Among horses, Red Hare," and "Do not pursue Lu Bu." However, defeating him offers significant rewards, including bragging rights, story progression (especially for Shu or Wei players in Chapter 4's Battle of Xiapi), and the game's ultimate weapon – the halberd (obtained by defeating him at Hulao Gate and in post-game).

Preparation is Key:

Before facing Lu Bu, optimize your equipment. A multi-hit sword to stagger him is crucial, along with Battle Arts that are quick, wide-ranging, and don't demand high Bravery. Consider Battle Arts like Falcon Flurry, Mad Blade Rush, Absconding Slash, and Flying Dragon Slash. Boost your survivability with health and defense-enhancing accessories such as Divine Bird's Wing and Divine Turtle's Shell. A weapon granting Bravery on Perfect Evades is also highly beneficial.

Phase 1: Mounted Mayhem:

Initially, Lu Bu rides Red Hare. This phase focuses on his mounted charges. While fast, he pauses occasionally. Exploit these breaks to unleash Battle Arts, then retreat. His attacks have limited AOE, except for Red Hare's powerful jump attack, which is easily dodged. Once his health reaches 80%, he dismounts, initiating the next phase.

Phase 2: Unmounted Onslaught:

On foot, Lu Bu is incredibly aggressive. His attacks are swift, and he frequently dashes across the battlefield, often with a red aura indicating invulnerability to stuns. Dodge his charges (three consecutive charges are common). He may attempt a grab attack without his spear – evade this as well.

His most dangerous move is a three-arrow volley after an orange glow. Use a ranged Battle Art like Absconding Slash to counter this; close-range attacks are fatal. Keep your Musou gauge full for emergencies; invincibility can be life-saving. This phase allows for juggling Lu Bu, quickly charging Battle Arts and breaking his Fortitude. Maintain close proximity for better reaction time. Prioritize evasive maneuvers.

Phase 3: Musou Rage:

Depleting his health triggers Lu Bu's Musou Rage. He becomes unstaggerable and unleashes relentless attacks. The objective is to deplete his Fortitude before he executes his Musou attack. Utilize all remaining resources: Musou attacks, Battle Arts, and rapid, powerful strikes. Failing to break his Fortitude before his Musou attack forces a phase restart.

Victory:

By effectively managing these phases and utilizing strategic equipment and Battle Arts, you can overcome Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
