Lost Soul Aside's Steam Release Frustrates Gamers Due to Sony's Region Lock
UltiZero Games' highly anticipated action RPG, Lost Soul Aside, will launch with a significant geographical limitation on Steam. The game will be inaccessible in over 130 countries due to restrictions imposed by Sony, the game's publisher. This decision has sparked outrage among PC gamers, many of whom are now refusing to purchase the game.

A PSN-Related Restriction, Despite No PSN Requirement
The region lock stems from the game's incompatibility with PlayStation Network (PSN) in these affected regions, despite the game itself not requiring a PSN account to play. This means the game simply won't appear in Steam stores located in these unsupported countries. Players wishing to access the game will be forced to create a new Steam account registered in a PSN-supported region – a cumbersome workaround that has angered many potential buyers. This is particularly frustrating given PlayStation's recent removal of PSN requirements for their PC titles. Social media is ablaze with complaints, with many expressing their disappointment and choosing to boycott the game.

A Blend of Fantasy and Realism
Lost Soul Aside, first announced in 2016, has consistently maintained its unique art style: a compelling fusion of fantasy elements and realistic visuals. UltiZero Games CEO, Yang Bing, discussed the game's artistic vision in a recent IGN interview (February 20, 2025). He emphasized the consistent artistic direction since the initial 2016 trailer, highlighting the game's signature high-speed, flashy combat. The design of the protagonist, Kaser, perfectly exemplifies this blend, showcasing cartoonish features juxtaposed against realistic textures.

Influences from Gaming Giants
In a Famitsu interview (February 20, 2025), Yang Bing further detailed the game's influences. He cited Final Fantasy as a major inspiration for Kaser's design, emphasizing the blend of realism and fantasy in the character's clothing and overall aesthetic. The fast-paced, stylish combat, however, draws heavily from Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry. Yang highlighted the game's evolving combat system, aiming for both speed and depth, allowing players to develop unique fighting styles.

Lost Soul Aside is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and PC. The region lock, however, casts a significant shadow over its launch, leaving many potential players deeply disappointed.
