The long-awaited return of Suikoden! After over a decade of absence, the upcoming HD remaster of the first two games aims to reignite the franchise's popularity and pave the path for future installments.

Remastering a Classic: A New Generation of Fans

The Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster is poised to revitalize this beloved JRPG series. Director Tatsuya Ogushi and Lead Planner Takahiro Sakiyama expressed their hopes that this remaster will not only introduce the series to a new audience but also rekindle the passion of longtime fans. In a Famitsu interview (translated via Google), Ogushi, deeply connected to the series, spoke of his admiration for the late Yoshitaka Murayama, the series creator. Sakiyama, director of Suikoden V, expressed his excitement at finally bringing Genso Suikoden back to the world, hoping for continued expansion of the IP.
Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster: A Closer Look

Based on the 2006 Japan-exclusive PlayStation Portable collection, this remaster updates the classic JRPGs for modern platforms. Expect enhanced HD background illustrations, creating more immersive environments. While the pixel art sprites are polished, the original design remains true. A new Gallery feature offers access to music, cutscenes, and an event viewer to relive memorable moments.

This remaster addresses previous issues. Suikoden 2's infamous Luca Blight cutscene, previously shortened, is restored. Furthermore, some dialogue has been adjusted to reflect modern sensibilities; for instance, Richmond no longer smokes.

Launching March 6, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, the Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster promises a nostalgic journey for veterans and a captivating introduction for newcomers.
