If Marvel proceeds with this release slot, it would stand as the sole MCU installment between the two Avengers films, following Spider-Man: Brand New Day's premiere on July 31, 2026.
Fan theories abound regarding the mystery project. "Doctor Strange 3 seems the most plausible," one Redditor commented on r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers. "Though the MCU's X-Men could still happen, depending on how Fox's X-Men fare in Doomsday."
Many appear to favor Doctor Strange as the frontrunner. "Likely Doctor Strange 3 (though I'd prefer Shang-Chi 2)," tweeted one fan. Another speculated, "What if Doctor Strange III becomes World War Hulk?" Intriguing, but perhaps unrealistic.
"Doctor Strange 3 makes the most sense between Doomsday and Secret Wars. Blade's clearly delayed post-Secret Wars," argued a Reddit user. A rebuttal followed: "Black Panther 3 is likelier—Marvel and Coogler have openly discussed it. This should be his next project."
Several fans echoed that Black Panther 3 deserves more consideration, especially after Sinners' success. "Strange how everyone focuses on DS3, a film with no director," noted a commenter. "Meanwhile, Black Panther 3 is right there."
Multiple fans deemed BP3 a strong contender. "It's further along than anything else," remarked one. "My bets are on Black Panther 3 or Darkhorse Doctor Strange 3."
