Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessory Collection

Sony has unveiled its stylish Midnight Black Collection for PlayStation 5, featuring a quartet of high-end accessories: the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These premium additions offer a sophisticated dark aesthetic to complement the console.

The collection's pricing reflects its premium nature: the DualSense Edge controller, PlayStation Portal, and Pulse Explore earbuds are all priced at $199.99, while the Pulse Elite headset is slightly more affordable at $149.99. This pricing strategy positions these accessories as top-tier options for discerning PlayStation 5 owners.

Pre-orders for the Midnight Black Collection begin January 16th, 2025, with a full launch scheduled for February 20th, 2025, exclusively through direct.playstation.com. This timed release coincides with the excitement surrounding CES 2025, further amplifying the anticipation among gamers.

The new Midnight Black Collection follows Sony's successful releases of other colored DualSense controllers and accessories. This latest collection provides a sleek, dark alternative to the standard white, offering a refined look for gamers who prefer a more subdued aesthetic. The DualSense Edge controller, in particular, receives a modern update with its own dedicated black carrying case.

While the original Midnight Black DualSense controller was a popular release, the new Edge controller represents a significant upgrade. The Pulse Elite headset, while more expensive than its predecessor ($149.99 vs. $99.99), includes a carrying case, alongside the Pulse Explore earbuds, both housed in a felt gray case.

Beyond the Midnight Black Collection, Sony continues to expand its accessory lineup with themed DualSense controllers, such as the recently announced limited-edition Helldivers 2 controller. This demonstrates Sony's commitment to providing players with a wide array of customization options to personalize their gaming experience.
