Navigating Hyper Light Breaker's sprawling Synthwave Overgrowth can feel like a chore, but thankfully, there's a secret weapon: the Hoverboard. While not explicitly explained, this speedy mode of transport is available from the very beginning. Essentially acting as a powerful sprint mechanic, the Hoverboard dramatically increases your movement speed, allowing you to quickly cover vast distances—though it does consume your Energy. This guide will show you how to use it and highlight some of its less obvious advantages.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
Summoning your Hoverboard is surprisingly simple. Just hold down your Dodge button. Your Breaker will dash forward and automatically mount the Hoverboard as long as you continue holding the button.
Controlling the Hoverboard is intuitive. Holding the left analog stick steers; the turning speed adjusts to your current velocity—slower speeds allow for tighter turns. To dismount, simply release the Dodge button. The Hoverboard will also automatically deactivate if your Energy runs out. Keep an eye on your Energy meter (displayed next to your Breaker's companion); dismount briefly to recharge if it gets low to avoid unexpected stops.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While the Hoverboard doesn't offer tricks or combat capabilities, it possesses some valuable hidden features. Most notably, it floats on water! Say goodbye to those frustrating river detours. The Hoverboard functions identically on land and water; you simply need to be already riding it when you hit the water's surface.
While you can't summon a Hoverboard underwater, it seamlessly transitions to the surface upon contact, regardless of your entry speed or height.
Another useful trick involves the Jump button. Holding Jump while on the Hoverboard allows you to duck, improving the precision of your jumps, particularly useful for navigating tricky gaps. While this doesn't boost speed or jump height, it significantly enhances your jump timing.
