In Avowed, upgrading your gear is crucial for survival. Early game encounters feature Common (I) weapons and enemies, but difficulty quickly escalates to Level II, demanding Fine (II) equipment. This guide details how to acquire Tier II/Fine weapons and armor.
Upgrading Weapons and Armor:
While some Fine (II) gear can be found or purchased, most require upgrading. Avowed uses a Quality system indicated by descriptors, colors, and Roman numerals. Common (I) gear is green, while Fine (II) is blue. Three intermediate upgrade levels (+1 to +3) exist between each Quality tier.
To upgrade from Common (I) to Fine (II), utilize workbenches found at Party Camps. Each upgrade level (+1 to +3) requires specific materials depending on the gear type. The final upgrade to Fine (II) necessitates Adra, a rare crystal obtained through quests, merchant purchases, or dismantling Unique items.
Finding and Purchasing Fine (II) Weapons and Armor:

Upgrading consumes resources. Alternatively, you can locate Fine (II) weapons and armor:
- Dawnshore: Rarely spawns on Level II enemies early in the game.
- Bounties: Level II Bounties often yield Fine (II) gear. However, Common gear is ineffective against Level II enemies, so carry ample health potions.
- Paradis Merchants: After completing the early Main Quest involving the Dreamscourge bear, access Paradis. Two sisters operate a merchant stall near the Bounty Board; one sells magical items (grimoires, wands), and the other offers standard Fine (II) weapons and armor (pictured above).
By utilizing these methods, you can effectively equip yourself with the Fine (II) weapons and armor needed to conquer Avowed's challenges.
