Yesterday, IGN unveiled that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available for play at an Australian museum in September 2025, along with a sprite sheet from the eagerly awaited game, sparking a frenzy across the internet.
A Reddit user posed the question, "In what situation [is] making a sprite of naked Hornet necessary?" in a thread analyzing the exclusive sheet.
Among the various images of Silksong's protagonist, Hornet, displayed in numerous battle-ready and relaxed poses, one particular sprite stands out. It depicts Hornet casually holding her cloak under her arm, as shown in the close-up below (also visible on the right-hand side of the original sheet, immediately under the uppermost ring):
A close-up of the controversial sprite, located on the right-hand side of the original image. One Reddit user remarked, "What kind of situation in-game calls for her to remove her cloak and hold it like she's an exhausted dad returning from work? This is cursed."
Another user expressed disbelief, "Is this real???? There’s no way this is a sprite that is going to be in Silksong. Is that just what she looks like????" while another exclaimed, "IN WHAT KIND OF SITUATION WOULD THEY EVEN NEED THIS SPRITE?"
The discussion then took a more humorous and speculative turn.
A user confidently stated, "So, we don't have to bother making a mod," and another suggested, "We're going straight to ESRB 18+ for this one."
Another thread initiator scolded, "HORNET PUT YOUR CLOAK BACK ON THAT'S SO INDECENT WHAT THE HELL," prompting a reply, "This looks so wrong," and another comment, "this is completely unnecessary."
Someone else simply declared, "I do not like this."
The most likely scenario could involve the ability to upgrade or change Hornet's cloak, but for now, let your imaginations run wild, Hornet enthusiasts.

Team Cherry’s sequel remains one of the most anticipated games globally, consistently topping the Steam wishlist charts. Silksong briefly appeared at Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct last month, and soon after, Team Cherry confirmed the 2025 release window, much to the delight of its patient fanbase. With the game set to be playable at Australia’s national museum of screen culture, ACMI, from September 18, speculation suggests a potential launch around August, though nothing is confirmed yet.
Silksong will be part of the Game Worlds exhibition at the Melbourne museum, which will also explore the game’s design and artistic direction.
