Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced plans for a sequel to the immensely popular Hogwarts Legacy, the best-selling game of 2023.
During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed the development of a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. Variety reported Wiedenfels stating that a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is a top priority for the company, anticipated for release within the next couple of years. He highlighted the significant growth potential this sequel represents for their games division.
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad spoke with Variety, emphasizing the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success. He noted the high number of players who have revisited the game multiple times. Beyond sales figures and replay value, Haddad underscored Hogwarts Legacy's achievement in presenting a fresh and engaging interpretation of the Harry Potter universe, allowing players to immerse themselves in the story as unique characters. This resonated strongly with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the best-selling games list for the year—a position typically dominated by sequels from established franchises.
Game8 was particularly impressed by the game's stunning visuals, deeming it the most visually impressive Harry Potter experience available. For a more detailed perspective, you can read our review (link below).
