How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The Hermit quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 automatically unlocks as you progress through quests for the blacksmith Radovan. After you find the lost cart, report back to Radovan. He'll reveal his intention to forge a sword as a wedding gift, which initiates the Hermit questline. Before you can meet the hermit, you'll need to gather information from the villagers in Troskowitz.

Get Information About the Hermit

Start your investigation at the tavern in Troskowitz. Speak with Innkeeper Betty and exhaust all dialogue options. Then, converse with other villagers, such as the alehouse maid and the general trader, to gather more insights about the hermit.

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Next, speak with Gerda in Troskowitz, who claims to have seen the apparition. You can either offer her a small amount of Groschen or pass a dialogue check to extract the information you need. After that, head to Apollonia and speak with Stanislav, again opting to either pass a dialogue check or pay with Groschen.

Gather Evidence

With the necessary information in hand, it's time to collect hard evidence. Head to the cross mentioned by Gerda and dig the grave to uncover Groschen, documents, and artifacts related to the Knights of the Cross. Remember, you'll need a spade for this, which you can buy from the general trader in Troskowitz or find for free in cemeteries near settlements.

Read the documents, then proceed to the quest marker in Apollonia. There, you'll find a hut and a clearing with a black horse. Examine the horse to gather your next clue, preparing you to confront the hermit.

Talk to the Hermit

Approach the hermit's hut and engage in conversation. Without the evidence, the hermit won't talk, but with it, he'll be more forthcoming. Choose these dialogue options:

• "You're suspicious."
• Exhaust all dialogue options about the clues and evidence.
• "Out with it!"

The hermit will then confess that he isn't Ambrose but Konrad. He'll task you with delivering a cross to a widow named Margaret before he'll surrender the sword.

Head to the cemetery near Apollonia to find Margaret and give her the cross, starting the Sinful Soul quest. You can complete this quest immediately by helping her dig Ambrose's grave, though it's optional. You can also choose to return to Konrad directly.

Help Konrad or Kill Him

Upon returning to the hermit's hut, you'll find Crusaders gathered nearby. You can choose to either help them kill Konrad or assist Konrad in escaping.

Sneak to the hut and inform Konrad that you've completed the task. Ask him about the sword's location. At this point, you can decide to help Konrad or kill him. I chose to kill Konrad because confronting the Crusaders is tough, while fighting Konrad, especially with Mutt and the Crusaders' assistance, is much easier.

After killing him, speak with the Crusaders and offer to return the documents for a small sum of Groschen.

Get the Hermit’s Sword

Finally, head north of the hermit's hut to find two tangled oak trees. The hermit's sword will be stuck in the ground there. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
