For Android enthusiasts, the Google Pixel series consistently delivers top-tier smartphones. Last year's Pixel 9 lineup stands out with industry-leading camera technology and innovative AI capabilities that genuinely enhance user experience. Surprisingly affordable for flagship devices, the "Pro" models offer exceptional value as premium iPhone alternatives.
Shoppers seeking high-end performance at reduced prices will find Amazon and Best Buy currently offering the Pixel 9 Pro XL at unprecedented discounts. Remarkably, this generation's flagship device now costs less than the standard Pixel 9 did just seven days ago.
Historic Price Drop
Limited-time offer available exclusively in Obsidian finish.$1,099.00 (45% off)$599.00 at Best Buy$1,099.00 (45% off)$599.00 at Amazon
The discount applies solely to the 128GB Obsidian variant at Amazon, though Best Buy offers three color options at matching prices. Representing the lowest price point since launch, this deal equals last week's record-low for the standard Pixel 9 while beating last month's best offer by $200. For those considering an Android upgrade, this presents an extraordinary opportunity to own an unlocked premium device.
Between the Pixel 9 Pro and its XL counterpart, the primary distinction lies in display dimensions - the XL boasts a more substantial 6.8-inch screen. Both models deliver reliable performance powered by Google's Tensor G4 processor.

While we haven't evaluated the XL model specifically, our mobile specialist Mark Knapp extensively tested the Pixel 9 Pro upon its 2023 debut. Key takeaways from his assessment:
"The Pixel 9 Pro redefines mobile photography with its sophisticated sensor array and professional-grade controls, catering equally to casual shooters and photography enthusiasts. Beyond imaging capabilities, it delivers smooth everyday performance and respectable gaming prowess. While it may not match rivals like the OnePlus 12 or Galaxy S24 Ultra in benchmark tests, all three devices handle typical usage effortlessly. Google's AI integrations show promise but feel somewhat constrained - their full potential remains untapped. Minor software shortcomings aside, the Pixel 9 Pro excels with premium build quality, elegant design, and compact form factor that doesn't compromise functionality."
Prospective buyers awaiting Google's next-generation devices should prepare for a considerable wait. Following this year's pattern, we anticipate Pixel 10 series debuting in August or early September - typically 4-6 weeks before Apple's iPhone announcements.
While Prime Day in July may bring additional Pixel 9 discounts, today's pricing on the 9 Pro XL likely represents the floor for this model's value proposition.
