GOG Resurrects Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 on PC

Feb 26,2025 Author: Anthony

GOG resurrects the cult classic survival horror games, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, with DRM-free PC re-releases. Both PlayStation titles are now available on GOG's platform as part of their Preservation Program, retaining their original content.

Originally released in 1999 and 2000 respectively, these titles represent a significant piece of gaming history. While Dino Crisis 3 debuted on the original Xbox in 2003, a new entry in the series remains elusive despite fan demand. Capcom's release of Exoprimal and statements from creator Shinji Mikami seem to indicate a lack of interest in reviving the franchise.

PlayGOG's re-releases address the challenges of running these older games on modern systems. The company highlights the improved compatibility and enhanced features:

Dino Crisis (GOG Version):

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • Six original language localizations (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese).
  • Original, Arrange, and Operation Wipe Out modes.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (Windowed Mode, VSync, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, etc.).
  • Up to 4K (1920p) resolution and 32-bit color depth.
  • Improved geometry, transformation, texturing, and alpha transparency.
  • Enhanced game registry settings.
  • Bug fixes addressing animation, video, music, and save file corruption issues.
  • Full modern controller support (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch, Logitech F series, and more).

Dino Crisis 2 (GOG Version):

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • Two original language localizations (English and Japanese).
  • Includes Easy difficulty, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (Windowed Mode, VSync, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, etc.).
  • Improved music playback, volume scaling, item rendering, and fog effects.
  • Corrected cartridge box alignment.
  • Bug fixes addressing video playback, task switching, and game exit issues.
  • Full modern controller support (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch, Logitech F series, and more).

Additionally, GOG launched its Dreamlist, a community voting system allowing users to suggest games for future re-releases on the platform. This initiative aims to gauge player interest and potentially influence future acquisitions.
