God of War Ragnarok Launches Dark Odyssey Skin Pack for 20th Anniversary

Sony and Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, a major God of War Ragnarök update arriving next week. This free content drop offers players a suite of in-game gear inspired by one of the franchise's most legendary armor sets.

Detailing their broader God of War 20th-anniversary celebrations in a PlayStation.Blog post, Sony confirmed Dark Odyssey is the centerpiece. All God of War Ragnarök owners on PS5 and PC will receive this war chest of cosmetic items at no cost on March 20.

Every item in the Dark Odyssey collection boasts a sleek black-and-gold aesthetic, ensuring Kratos and his companions look sharper than ever as they battle through the Norse realms. The update grants new cosmetic sets for Atreus and Freya, alongside visual overhauls for a variety of shields and weapons.

The standout addition is a Dark Odyssey armor and appearance for Kratos, a callback to a legendary skin originally unlocked only by conquering God of War 2 on the punishing God Mode difficulty. Players can collect this content from any Lost Items chest in the main campaign or immediately within the roguelike Valhalla mode post-update. The patch also finally introduces the ability to freely customize the visual look of Kratos's weapons without affecting their unique gameplay perks.

Sony's anniversary plans extend far beyond, offering longtime fans a wealth of celebratory activities and collectibles. Highlights include downloadable social media assets (available here), a special art exhibition via a collaboration with Los Angeles' Gallery Nucleus, new merchandise, sales, multiple vinyl soundtrack releases, and more.
