ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, the free-to-play mobile spin-off of the popular ARK: Survival Evolved franchise, has achieved a remarkable milestone. Within three weeks of its December 18, 2024 launch, it surpassed three million downloads on iOS and Android.
This success comes despite mixed initial reviews. The game's performance significantly outpaces the 2018 mobile port of ARK: Survival Evolved, boasting a 100% increase in downloads. This strong launch follows the successful 2022 Nintendo Switch port of ARK: Survival Evolved, also developed by Grove Street Games.
Currently, the game holds a 3.9/5 rating on the App Store (412 ratings) and a 3.6/5 rating on the Google Play Store (over 52,500 ratings). Despite the mixed reception, its popularity continues to grow, currently ranking 24th among adventure games on iOS and 9th among top-grossing adventure games on Android.
Future plans for ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition include the addition of new maps, such as Ragnarok, Extinction, Genesis Part 1, and Genesis Part 2, expanding the dinosaur-filled world for players. The game will also be released on the Epic Games Store in 2025, offering players more platform choices.
This latest success adds to the ongoing momentum of the ARK franchise. While the release of ARK 2 remains anticipated, Studio Wildcard recently provided a roadmap for ARK: Survival Ascended, highlighting future content updates.
