Fortnite Update Brings Beloved Items Back to Original Battle Royale

Jan 25,2025 Author: Blake

Fortnite's latest update delivers a nostalgic blast from the past, reintroducing beloved items like the Hunting Rifle and Launch Pad. This follows a recent hotfix for the OG mode, which also brings back the classic Cluster Clinger. Meanwhile, Winterfest continues to spread holiday cheer with event quests, festive items such as Icy Feet and the Blizzard Grenade, and exciting new skins featuring Mariah Carey and other iconic characters.

December is proving to be a busy month for Epic Games and Fortnite. Beyond the Winterfest event, which blankets the island in snow and offers rewards from the Cozy Cabin, the game boasts numerous collaborations, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Batman Ninja. But the fun doesn't stop there; the OG mode also receives significant attention.

A recent, albeit small, hotfix for Fortnite rekindles the excitement for veteran players. The surprise update to the popular OG mode marks the triumphant return of Launch Pads – a Chapter 1, Season 1 staple. These iconic traversal tools, predating other mobility options, allowed players to strategically launch themselves into the air for surprise attacks or swift escapes.

Fortnite's Revival of Classic Gear

  • Launch Pad
  • Hunting Rifle
  • Cluster Clinger

The Launch Pad isn't the only returning favorite. The Hunting Rifle (originally from Chapter 3) provides long-range combat capabilities, a welcome addition for some players disappointed by the absence of sniper rifles in Chapter 6, Season 1. Chapter 5's Cluster Clingers also make a comeback, appearing in both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes alongside the Hunting Rifle.

The success of Fortnite OG is undeniable. Epic Games reported 1.1 million players engaging with the mode within the first two hours of its launch. Accompanying the mode's release is an OG Item Shop, offering classic skins and items for purchase. However, the return of ultra-rare skins like the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper has sparked mixed reactions among the player base.
