NetEase Games unveiled their captivating new life sim, Floatopia, at Gamescom. Expected to launch on multiple platforms, including Android, sometime in 2025, Floatopia invites players to a whimsical world of floating islands and unique characters. The trailer depicts a charming setting where players can engage in farming, fishing, and decorating their airborne island homes.
A Unique Apocalypse
The game begins with an apocalyptic announcement, but fear not! This is a lighthearted, "My Time at Portia"-esque end of the world, not a "Fallout" scenario. The setting features fractured lands suspended in the sky and humans possessing varied supernatural abilities, some more useful than others. Players discover that seemingly insignificant powers hold unexpected potential.
Island Life Awaits
As the Island Manager, players will enjoy tasks reminiscent of Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley: cultivating crops, cloud fishing, and meticulously designing their island home. The ability to travel to exotic locations and meet new individuals adds an adventurous element.
Socialization and Exploration
Floatopia offers ample opportunities for socializing, whether through shared adventures, island parties, or simply showcasing one's meticulously crafted paradise to friends. Multiplayer is entirely optional, allowing for solitary gameplay as well.
Players will encounter a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique personalities and quirky superpowers.
While a precise release date for 2025 hasn't been confirmed, pre-registration is available on the official website.
