The Exit 8 is now available on Android, delivering a unique blend of suspense and exploration. Crafted by Kotake Create and published by Playism, this $3.99 walking simulator offers a chilling experience that keeps you second-guessing every move.
The Exit 8 immerses you in an endless underground passage resembling a Japanese metro station. You're trapped in a loop where tiles, lights, posters, and a solitary figure walking toward you repeat endlessly.
Your mission is to detect anomalies. It could be a poster with a new image, lights flickering unnaturally, or something as striking as a river of blood replacing the floor. The core gameplay revolves around spotting these subtle shifts and reacting quickly.
If you notice something off, turn back. If everything seems normal, keep going. Your goal is to reach the eighth exit by correctly identifying anomalies eight times in a row. A single mistake resets your progress.
Inspired by liminal spaces and the Backrooms, the game’s design draws from real Japanese metro stations like Kiyosumi-Shirakawa in Tokyo. Its claustrophobic corridors and repetitive architecture amplify the eerie vibe.
The game keeps you engaged by encouraging close scrutiny of your surroundings for subtle clues signaling danger or a shift in reality. This constant questioning of memory and perception makes each run feel distinct.
Originally launched on PC in November 2023 after a nine-month development, The Exit 8 achieved 1.4 million downloads on Steam worldwide. It’s now available on mobile via the Google Play Store.
