Instead of passively awaiting the release of the co-op spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign, YouTuber chickensandwich420 has devised a unique challenge: daily battles against Messmer the Impaler. This notoriously difficult boss from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC requires exceptional skill and strategy. The challenge began December 16, 2024, and chickensandwich420, a university senior, chose Messmer to avoid extensive boss grinding that would interfere with his studies.
Messmer's reputation precedes him; players report needing 30 to 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal gear. Chickensandwich420's no-hit, daily conquest is a truly remarkable feat.
However, the challenge has a June deadline. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, the focus will shift to other games. This sets a limit of approximately 160 Messmer encounters. At the time of writing, chickensandwich420 is on day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone three-player co-op adventure within the Elden Ring universe.
