The Yellow Orb is located in Merchantburg, a town initially marked as "???" on the map. The town's name is determined by the merchant you hire and leave there. To obtain the Yellow Orb, you must help establish and develop this village.

Locating Merchantburg (???)

After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), sail to the northeast corner of the map to find Merchantburg. A quest marker will appear if you have them enabled.

Optimal Timing for Visiting Merchantburg

While orb collection order is flexible, visiting Merchantburg early (immediately after getting the ship) is recommended. The town's growth takes time, so starting early allows you to gather other orbs concurrently.

Acquiring the Yellow Orb

1. Hire a Merchant: Before heading to Merchantburg, hire a new merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Minimize combat on your way to avoid unnecessary delays.

2. Establish Merchantburg: In Merchantburg's lone building, speak to the old man who needs a merchant to establish the town. Offer your newly hired merchant. The town will then receive its official name.

3. Merchantburg's Growth: After establishing the town, focus on obtaining the Purple Orb (Orochi's Lair) and Blue Orb (Gaia's Navel). You'll receive notifications to return to Merchantburg as it grows through five stages. Each visit shows increased town development, culminating in a large club. On your fourth visit, note the merchant's growing unpopularity.

4. The Revolt and the Orb: On your fifth and final visit (at night), you'll find the merchant imprisoned following a town revolt. Speak to the imprisoned merchant to learn the Yellow Orb's location. Return to the merchant's house; the orb is hidden behind the sofa, marked by a quest marker.

The Yellow Orb is usually the penultimate orb acquired. Remember the locations of the other orbs: Red Orb (Pirates' Den), Green Orb (Theddon), and Silver Orb (Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine).
