Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives later this month, but eager fans got an early treat when Hideo Kojima unveiled fresh footage during today's Summer Game Fest.
The preview introduces two newcomers: Lucy (portrayed by Alissa Jung) and Neil (played by Luca Marinelli). Neil works as a porter, much like protagonist Sam Bridges. Their poignant encounter hinges on matching hand brands, with Neil appearing to recognize Lucy from forgotten memories while she reacts with visceral distress. Kojima teased that Neil's dramatic significance will mirror Mads Mikkelsen's impactful role from the first installment.
This sequel continues Hideo Kojima's surreal delivery odyssey, reuniting players with Fragile and Sam Bridges decades after the original events.
Previous September gameplay highlights showcased Death Stranding 2: On the Beach's eccentricities - from bizarre photo modes and dancing marionettes to characters like George Miller's mysterious addition, reaffirming Kojima's signature bizarre creativity.
Memorable moments include Norman Reedus emerging from black ooze to encounter Miller's Tarman character and his airborne feline companion, plus chilling ventriloquist dolls. The star-studded cast features Elle Fanning as Tomorrow and Shioli Kutsuna as Rainy. Exclusively launching June 26, 2025 for PS5.
